(PINPOINT WEATHER) — There is probably some winter fatigue after this past weekend, not just during the event, but leading up to it.
However, Mother Nature does not care how tired we are, unfortunately, and she may be brewing another storm for this upcoming weekend.
The forecast for this weekend is not a slam dunk, but one thing we know for sure is that this will indeed be a “snow or nothing” event. We will not have to worry about ice or sleet this weekend. There is still an outside shot that we see very little or nothing at all this weekend regarding winter weather.

The system for this upcoming weekend is drastically different from what we experienced last weekend. The old reliable Venn Diagram below helps explain the differences and similarities.
Last weekend, we were tracking what could have been a crippling ice storm, which could have led to widespread power outages. The system also held around longer, creating a long-duration event.
This weekend, we are tracking a possible snow event, meaning no ice or sleet will be involved. This will lead to less of a power threat. This storm system also would not hang around as long as last weekend. Either way, travel would still be impacted. We would also possibly have delays and or closures with this upcoming weekend’s event.

A low-pressure system will develop later this week and track somewhere along or off the East Coast this weekend. The snow aspect for the Carolinas will depend on how far west or east an area of low pressure tracks off the East Coast.

Scenario #1
If the area of low pressure rides along the coast, that would be the jackpot for snow across the Queen City News viewing area.
Scenario #2
If the area of low pressure is slightly offshore, we would probably get some snow around the Charlotte area, but very little.
Scenario #3
If the area of low pressure is way offshore and takes an “out to sea” track. Then the moisture would be far east of our region, and we would get nothing from this system.
Either way, the best timing from the system appears to be late Friday and through the day on Saturday. The Pinpoint Weather Team will keep you updated throughout the week.
For now, try to be stress-free and know that this event will not be crippling. Looks more like cozy and fluffy snow.
