CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Queen City News wants to recognize the great contributions women have made to our nation and local communities.
Remarkable Women is part of a nationwide Nexstar Media initiative to honor the influence that women have had on public policy, social progress, and the quality of life.
In March, Queen City News and stations across the U.S. will showcase each Remarkable Woman.
Remarkable Women Winner: Mara Campolungo
After losing her brother to a sudden heart attack, Mara Campolungo began volunteering at Levine Children’s Hospital and founded The Sandbox, a nonprofit that supports families navigating life with a child diagnosed with a life-altering illness.
The organization hosts events and celebrations, and recently created a program to help put kids through college. Mara also created the “Impact Awards” to recognize and bring together women doing good in the community. She will receive a $1,000 check for The Sandbox and travel to Nashville to celebrate with other winners. More on her story here.
