PAGELAND, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A member of the Pageland Rescue Squad is no longer with the organization after he was convicted of child sex crimes in a different state.
According to court records, Chad Guernsey pleaded no contest on Jan. 28 to sexual assault of a child and first-degree assault of a child out of Madison County, Nebraska. He was a decorated member of the rescue squad until his conviction.
The Pageland Rescue Squad issued the following statement:
“On Wednesday, 1/28/26, the officers of the Pageland Rescue Squad were made aware of an out-of-state conviction involving one of our members. Per our bylaws and due to the seriousness of the conviction, the member has been terminated from the squad with immediate effect. He was charged on Jan. 28 and initially held on a $250,000 bond.
In December, Guernsey received multiple awards at the Pageland Rescue Squad’s awards banquet, including for highest call response.
