CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — When one door closes, another opens, as they say. The owners of a longtime doughnut place in Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood will soon be serving up something other than their made-to-order doughnuts.

Since Dec. 2018, Reigning Doughnuts has brought joy and positivity to the NoDa community. On Tuesday, the company announced on social media that Sunday, February 15, will be its last day of service.

“It has been such a fun ride, and we’ve loved operating this place—it’s brought so much joy to our guests, our community of NoDa, and to us!” the business wrote in a social media post. “We are so grateful to our team—everyone has put in so much time, energy and positivity to make this place such a special place to enjoy. We’re also grateful to all of you for all the visits and orders over the years.

The owners say they’ve noticed different trends in the restaurant space and wanted to keep “getting better” as a restaurant. The business will transition to serving up deli sandwiches and soft serve out of the same window they served doughnuts out of.

“Olivelli Deli will be coming soon!” they write. In the meantime, the owners will be working on making homemade Kaiser rolls, sourcing the best meats and taste testing soft serve.
